Introduction

Pfam

Proteins in this family have been implicated in the assembly of the large subunit of the ribosome [2] and in telomere maintenance [3]. Some proteins in this family contain a CCCH zinc finger. This family contains a protein called human fragile X mental retardation-interacting protein 1, which is known to bind RNA [4] and is phosphorylated upon DNA damage [1].

InterPro

Nuclear fragile X mental retardation-interacting protein 1 (Nufip1) has been implicated in the assembly of the large subunit of the ribosome [PUBMED:10567587] and in telomere maintenance [PUBMED:16552446]. It is known to bind RNA [PUBMED:10556305] and is phosphorylated upon DNA damage [PUBMED:17525332]. This entry represents a conserved domain found within Nufip1. Some proteins containing this region also contain a CCCH zinc finger.
